Review: "October Dreams – A Celebration of Halloween," Richard Chizmar & Robert Morris

I return to this compilation occasionally, but this year I read the first 350 pages straight through. A collection of Halloween based stories the absolute charm of this book is that in between each story there are tiny little reminiscences of “My Favorite Halloween Memory” by many of these famous writers in the genre. Doing a little extra research I realized that most of these writers fall into the same general age category as me, ranging from about 5-10 years younger, to about 5-10 years older. This makes many of their memories of Halloween quite similar, in many ways, to my own, a kind of shared holiday experience, that is now for the most part passed from American scene. Just a delight if you love Halloween.
